About SISPAT & ICOC

The Joint 6th Singapore International Symposium On Protection Against Toxic Substances (6th SISPAT) and 2nd International Chemical, Biological, Radiological & Explosives Operations Conference (2nd ICOC) is jointly organised by DSO National Laboratories and SAF CBRE Defence Group. This is an operations-technical (Ops-Tech) forum which aims to foster the interaction of scientists, engineers, physicians, military planners and other professionals from the governmental, academic and industrial sectors to share the latest knowledge and experiences with regards to defence against unconventional threats.

Defence against unconventional threats transcends boundaries. Even in the current enhanced security landscape, there are still numerous gaps to be plugged. Thus, the Joint 6th SISPAT and 2nd ICOC will continue to explore beyond Chemical and Biological Threats to encompass topics in research and development against Radiological, Nuclear and Explosives threats as well as trans-national public health issues. The theme for the Joint 6th SISPAT and 2nd ICOC – “Countering the Evolution of Threats through Strengthening Ops-Tech Convergence” - seeks to promote a closer exchange of ideas and requirements to spawn new innovative solutions by scientists to counteract the evolving threats.

The Joint 6th SISPAT and 2nd ICOC is a truly integrated Operations-Technical (Ops-Tech) Forum which will create closer interaction between scientists and operations managers (military, civilian and public health) to better translate scientific knowledge to serve operational needs and develop a better understanding of the unique and challenging operations requirements for protection against unconventional threats. The joint symposium brings together military and response personnel from the Asia-Pacific region and around the world to exchange knowledge and experiences on operational issues concerning unconventional chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear and explosives (CBRNE) threats.
